Extra Information Roy Hamlin Johnson registered his edition (which cuts off between 15 and 20 minutes of the performance time) of the sonata for U.S. copyright protection in 1977 (registration EU793171, copyright on his abridgement) and 1978 (registration PAu000029193, copyright on "new matter": editing, preface, introduction). Johnson's edition was finally published by Oxford University Press in 1983 (copyright registration PA0000174956, copyright on "new matter": compilation, editorial notes and revisions).
