Misc. Notes
|
This file is part of the Merton-Ourtext Project. The pages have been arranged 2-up in imposition (booklet) order for duplex printing on A3 paper and require an A3 printer. Alternatively, this work can be mail-ordered from Ourtext's website. Ourtext prints have undergone editing, and legibility and accuracy can be expected to be superior to Merton archive files displayed here. Parts have date on score, though complete score apparently does not.

in case any doubt at all, HMB link for 1881- though February 1881, so actually- doubt comes back, since early (Jan/Feb) HMB can mean release in December year-1 and just picked up - well, depends on this and that... (I seem to recall this is an issue more for e.g. Russian but not for Austria/German/German-area publications but for publications near Germany/the states that became Germany (HMB spanning times when 'Germany' wasn't a single political entity, apologies for ambiguity) (Schissel)
Dedicatee could be Joseph Hellmesberger Sr. (1828–1893) or Joseph Hellmesberger, Jr. (1855–1907).
(If the dedication was added with the reprint (? ... possible???) then since Hellmesberger, Jr. became the first Hofkapellmeister at the Vienna Court Opera in 1890, and the full dedication reads 'to Josef Hellmesberger, k.k Hofkapellmeister etc.' ... - this is an argument in favor of the latter (did his father ever become "Hofkapellmeister" or just "Kapellmeister" etc.? Knowing more here would settle this admittedly minor question. - Schissel)
