Extra Information | According to Irwin Spector (Rhythm and life: the work of Emile Jaques-Dalcroze (Pendragon Press, 1990)), "The Marteau Quartet (Henri Marteau, Eugene Raymond, Woldhemar Palinke and Adolphe Rehberg) in 1901, gave the first professional performnce of the latter work. They repeated the work numerous times, showing that its composer was "an innovator, a leader of a school," and that the future would prove it." |
