The cello is the prominent instrument in this piece.
- According to Whistling (1817) Bohrer wrote 3 Trios brillantes for 2 violins and bass Op.13; other sources give both Opp.14 and 15 as both string trios by Bohrer, so this may be his 5th string trio at least (and at least his 2nd for this combination). - (This work perhaps also somewhat noteworthy for being an early(ish?) example of its kind, of that fairly rare sort of work whose tendency is from major (D major opening movement) to minor (finale, with, one notes, no major-mode coda or even picardy third, the viola taking the - solo - lead at the close.)
