Hrm. I think a Courante deuxième is like a 2nd minuet when it immediately follows the first - that is, a trio, meant to have the first courante played as a "da capo"- but I do not know, am not an expert... the one here is long enough that - perhaps not. ... Hrm. - Schissel (I think this is one of those rare cases where 1714 is actually the composition date, not the publication date- one does usually know the latter but not the former; it appears on the manuscript, or at least, the manuscript copy, but as a date of composition, I think. Not sure when first publication was, though for some items in the suites it was 19th century or earlier, and perhaps it was soon after composition for all of them- no.5, for instance, was published as no.37 of a series edited by Ernst Pauer in 1870...)
