Mentioned as a new work (either a local or a world premiere perhaps- not clear, possibly neither?) in a review of a Leipzig performance in Musikalisches Wochenblatt, volume 17, pp.75-76 (dated ca.January 1886?) - Schissel (A review of a Crystal Palace performance (The Academy and Literature, Vol.36, Nov.2 1889, p.294) notes that the work was composed about "6 years ago", that is to say soon after Scholz took over from Joachim Raff in 1883 at Breslau. (This may be a date of composition-beginning; the term has a history of ambiguous usage.)

Performed in NY City on March 13 1886 conducted by Theodore Thomas, see Program.

A performance in Frankfurt was scheduled for the 7th Museumkonzert in 1885.
