An 1884 performance is mentioned (according to Searchinger, "conducted his symphony in F major at the Euterpe concert in Leipzig, 1884.") The June 1878 issue of Signale für die musikalische Welt mentions a performance, in a May 31 concert, of the first movement of a symphony (no key given ; this one? an earlier attempt??) by Iver Holter of Christiania [now Oslo]. (The concert, at the Conservatory of Music in Leipzig - "Compositions-Prüfung"- began with the overture to Macbeth by Algernon Ashton.)
Possibly premiered in full as early as 1882 April 1 - see Wikipedia (Dutch).
