6 manuscripts for this Sonata are listed on RISM which display a variety of combinations of instruments. These are listed above. It's not clear which is the "original" version, or even if there is in fact an original; perhaps it was written with a number of different alternative instrumentations in mind, as seems to be the case with some of Graun's Trio Sonatas.

This piece was probably performed with Carl Phillipp Emanuel Bach at the keyboard in the Berlin court. One of very few works where the viola is not an inner part in a trio sonata. Could be played either with viola and keyboard, where the right hand plays the violin/clavier part and the left the baß, or as a trio sonata with viola, violin and continuo
