  • Nepomuceno's only "Trovas" are 2 songs Op.29/SN8.42 (performances of both are available on YouTube). The first or both were arranged by him for orchestra (SN11.11). However the present manuscript parts don't seem to be either of these pieces. It is even difficult to say whether there should be a vocal part at all: the woodwinds seem to carry the melody (changed for the 1st violins in the middle part). The library record lists Villa-Lobos as collaborator, so he is cited here as arranger. Maybe this is "Trovas, W589" of Villa-Lobos's catalogue? Appleby mentions it being "orchestral transcription". Whatever it is, every sheet of this ms has "Nepomuceno" written in the upper part. Maybe the original piece has a different title.
Well, at least the outer parts is the music of the second "Trova" by Nepomuceno.
  • No.1 was arranged for voice and small orchestra by composer (1906) and dedicated "à Exma. Sra. Zilda Chiabotto" (see musicabrasilis.org).
