My name is Samuel J. Brannon. I am a music historian who specializes in the musical theory and practice of the Renaissance. I hold a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where I wrote my dissertation titled "Books about Music in Early Modern Print Culture: Authors, Printers, and Readers." I am also a composer, holding a B.M. and M.M. from The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University.
My research involves studying the compositions of many lesser-known figures. I am sharing my work in hopes that my editions and transcriptions may be of use to others studying these works.
I have developed my own idiosyncratic style guide, which I will post here when I am able to write it in a way that is coherent.
