Brahms

HEllo Mister hobbypianist! I am sorry but I do not know any other way to contact you. I noticed you have the solo piano transcription for branhms' violin concerto... I also notice it is copywritten. Do you think you could e-mail me the file?

Sincerely,

Anthony Lefebvre prodigy2104@aim.com

Hello Anthony, I do not privately exchange scores via eMail. But the BSB in Munich has the score online here. So, if you are in Europe you can download it, it's public domain here. Hobbypianist 17:02, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Talk:Innere Stimmen, Op.2 (Jensen, Adolf)

Missa à 16 voci in Quattro Cori (Fasch, Karl Friedrich Christian)

Es gibt also keinen Fehler deinerseits.

Reger

Thanks a million for the Reger! Could you add the links to the GA page? Thanks.-- Snailey Talk to Me Email me 00:58, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Yes I know, only the genre composition list is up-to-date so far. The missing orchestral and piano chamber music will come in near future. Once this has been uploaded I'll revise the GA page and also add more details. Hobbypianist 07:32, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Ooh, thanks. Does that include the Cello Suites and Violin Sonatas?-- Snailey Talk to Me Email me 11:43, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

The 3 Suites from op.131c? They're already available. If you mean the Sonatas, yes. Among other things I'll post the 4 Cello and 9 for Violin, however, those which are scanned from the RGA won't have the solo part because the RGA unfortunately doesn't provide any parts at all. But it's better than nothing and I'm sure someone can add it afterwards. BTW, maybe we could introduce new categories like MissingSoloPart, MissingParts, MissingScore together with LowResolution, MonochromeWanted, Skewed, MissingNotes etc. and link the category pages somehow to the wishlist showing that there are works but they are kind of incomplete or need to be rescanned. Any ideas? Hobbypianist 18:38, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Scholze

Lieber Hobbypianist!

Godard

hi Hobbypianist, I take the liberty to write on your Usertalk to ask whether you could merge the two works listed as Jocelyn Suite No1 and Jocelyn, Op.109, as a single work Jocelyn, Op.100. The right Opus number is 100 and not 109 (which is for a Gavot No.3 that I will post soon). The two Suites are orchestral arrangements of the Opera. Thanks.--Jean-Séb 08:25, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Also, could you move Barcarolle No.4 and Menuet in the newly created work Lanterne magigue, part IV, Op.110, as they form respectively the second and first item of this collection of six ?--Jean-Séb 09:02, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

No problem. The pieces have been moved to the correct pages. Regards, Hobbypianist 13:24, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks.--Jean-Séb 16:12, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Dvorak

Thanks a lot for these 5 (pity that the OM library doesnt have the parts for Op. 111)! An aside: the Dvorak Complete page has just about all of the information on each volume, including editor.-- Snailey Talk to Me Email me 21:42, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

You're welcome! Next year I'll post more Dvorak. Yes, I've seen that P.davydov has added all the infos to the Dvorak Complete Edition page... I was just a bit lazy yesterday ;) Hobbypianist 17:07, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Are you planning on uploading the Piano Quintet Op. 81? The SNKLHU score would be much appreciated. Thanks-- Snailey (_@/) Talk to Me Email me 03:01, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Well, it's not planned, but if you're interested in the Czech edition I can upload it. However, it will take a little bit of time. Hobbypianist 15:16, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Thats not a problem. Thanks!-- Snailey (_@/) Talk to Me Email me 15:20, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

It's available now. Hobbypianist 17:34, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

German translations

Dear Hobbypianist, my typesets of scores included German translations, and I'm wondering if it is accurate. The complete list is on my upload log. Tell me if anything doesn't make sense. Thanks! ClassicalComposers 23:51, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Prokopiev

Hello. Sorry for Prokopiev's entry. I didn't realise that Canadian law would apply regardless of the status of the works in Macedonia. As far as I know, his works in Macedonia were proclaimed to be a national treasure, hence in the public domain, but now I see that that this status doesn't readily apply in other countries. It was my supposition that if a work is free in the home country, and has not ever been published in Canada (and I am pretty sure about that), then copyright is due to nobody in that country, hence it's free there. Obviously I have misunderstood the system :)

As for my page, I was truly amazed to find out about this project and look forward to performing some of the works here as soon as I get the opportunity. I have translated the Main page, but I am not clear about which other templates of on the main page are to be translated, and in geenral, what others to translate and how to make it all integrate into the general wiki and make it work. I would be very appreciative if I can get some guidance on that, the help pages seem somewhat confusing to me. Thanks --B. Jankuloski 20:12, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Hello Bjankuloski,
nearly all composers presented here at IMSLP died > 50 years ago to comply with the Canadian copyright law. You can't find here for ex. Strawinsky, Kabalewsky, Schostakowitch, etc.. However, there are a few exceptions, like Category:Högn, August. (The uploader has permission to post the work because he owns the copyright on Högn's works.) If you have the explicit permission of the current copyright holder to upload works by Prokopiev then it should be possible to post works here.
Regarding the translation: have you seen the page IMSLP:Internationalization? After the main page you could continue with IMSLP:Contributor_Portal and the Public domain page. Well, as you can see, for many laguages only the main pages exist and the links lead to to English versions... it's a lot of work to translate every page and even more important to keep everything up-to-date. I've added the Macedonian main page to OtherLangs, it should work now. The sidebar, however, doesn't work properly for the moment, see User_talk:Rida1990. Bizet vocal scores

Hi Hobbypianist, and thanks for the Bizet vocal scores. Are you by chance planning on submitting any more Bizet works, including vocal scores? I ask because he is either next or second on my list of French composers to complete and I'd like to avoid wasting time on duplication if possible. Nice submissions. Daphnis 23:49, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Hello Daphnis, the Perlenfischer and Djamileh are the only lesser known works from my side, unfortunately I can't get other rare opera scores. Maybe you can close the gaps. In my queue are still the Bizet vocal score in German (Peters) and the Variations chromatiques. (Initially I also planned a rescan of the Carmen full score I uploaded some time ago, however it's abandoned meanwhile since the score is simply to bulky to get it on the scanner surface.) Regards, Hobbypianist 18:24, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
Understood. I'll do what I can. Thanks. Daphnis 18:52, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Mahler quartet

Hi Hobbypianist. I'm curious as to why you've upload the Mahler work and tagged it as "C" in Canada? As you noted, it was only first published in 1973 which entitles it to a full 50-year term. Daphnis 21:20, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

See my talk page. Because the composer was dead over 50 years when first published, Canada applies a different definition of publication than for things first issued in the 50-year period following an author's death. Carolus 21:34, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Regarding removal of Cortot's transcription of Franck's violin sonata

On 23 June 2009, you removed a score from this page. I have a question since I'm also planning on uploading the same edition, but of the solo piano transcription instead. The edition, being published in 1905, is in the public domain in the US and since we are partly following US copyright laws, in respect to works that must be in the public domain in the US in order to remain on the site, aren't works that are only in the public domain in the US permissable? Or is it the case that, in order to upload a work on IMSLP, it must be in the public domain as well in Canada as the US? --Funper 00:50, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi. Pardon the intrusion but I believe I can answer this question. The bare minimum requirements for uploading to IMSLP be that the score in question is at least public domain in Canada. It doesn't necessarily need to be public domain in the US, just know that if it isn't, it will be blocked. Daphnis 00:53, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Most scores that are [TB] on the site are not in the public domain in the US, eg. those of the Neue Liszt-edition. So one is not to blame for the assumption that they must be in the public domain in the US too. As per this also. --Funper 01:19, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Actually ALL of the scores currently marked with a [TB] are still protected in the US. The temporary block is so named because, hopefully, it is only temporary. Therefore we only need to ensure that uploaded files are public domain in Canada. Daphnis 01:24, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Aha! If I understand it correctly: Thus, it is the case that a score needs to be in the public domain in both the US and in Canada in order to presently be accessable (i.e. not be [TB]) on IMSLP. --Funper 01:30, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Correct. Daphnis 01:30, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

Dana Project

This project is lagging a little; were you planning on reactivating it, so to speak, anytime soon? I was thinking of joining, but then Gaylord and Merton popped up, and then the Wagner OM. Cheers
P.S. Same with funper, whom I'm copying.-- Snailey (_@/) Talk to Me Email me 22:32, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Perlnerd666, my small part was to make some monochrome versions of uploaded files since the colour scans are not suitable for a printout. So, if anyone from the project starts uploading the remaining pieces I could convert the one or other (provided the contrast of the single images is high enough). I can't upload these large colour scans myself because my upload speed is inferior (20-25kB/sec)... Hobbypianist 14:01, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

OK, that's fine. I await Funper's response, then :)-- Snailey (_@/) Talk to Me Email me 18:43, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

As you can see, Funper is back and uploading, so your conversion skills would be most welcome :). Thanks again-- Snailey (_@/) Talk to Me Email me 03:46, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Bump.-- Snailey (_@/) Talk to Me Email me 19:50, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Reger 2 Pieces for Cello and Piano, Op.79e (Reger, Max)

Hi HobbyPianist...

Congratulations on your great wonderful work.. admiring and trying to know and collect all of the great music you've shared with us. Would it be much problem to ask you about the Reger's 2 Pieces for Cello and Piano, Op.79e? ... I've been looking for them long ago and here in Mexico it is very hard to find the music.... tried to download it but says it has some copyright issues... Would you be so kind as to share it through mail? (glgbarajas@gmail.com)

Thanks in advance... receive the warmest of greetings!... keep on the great work!

Sorry, but that's not possible. The piece is blocked because it's under copyright in the US, and it also happens to be in most other parts of the world, including Mexico. In fact, all of Reger's music is under copyright in Mexico. Sorry, KGill talk email 22:18, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Croatian translation of the main page

Hello. I've completed and updated the Croatian translation of the main page. You can find it here. I'll complete other essential pages as I find time for it, but they will be complete by mid-October. If the translation is done correctly, the main page name in Croatian should be "Glavna_stranica". Rosier 05:42, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the update! You can find now the Croatian main page linked in the Other Languages section as Hrvatski. By the way, I've added the recordings listing to Glavna stranica.
