Archive
You may want to consider archiving your user talk page. There are two common methods:
- Quick and easy: Make the page User talk:KGill/archive1 and move all of your old conversations there (I think that's actually all of them except this one). Then make a link at the top of the page under a section "Archive Pages for this user page" with the date of the first comment to the date of the archive (example: 5 February, 2007 - 17 December, 2021). Repeat when necessary.
- What Peter and I do: make the page User talk:KGill/archive and add the conversations. Then, add a level one heading (only one equals sign) that says the same as you would title the link in the above method (i.e. Archive 17: December 52, 1980 - January 0.5, 200, B.C.E.). I actually put mine in a table (you can see if you go to my talk page and then the archive). Have fun!-- Snailey Talk to Me Email me 01:45, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
- P.S. I don't know what proper boldings are either, but I just bold more and more until it looks bad, and then trim the shrubs. Nice page.-- Snailey Talk to Me Email me 01:46, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Soler's picture
KGill, I originally wanted the picture deleted so I could re-upload it, without previous data interfering with the current image. There was probably some problem with the display; the page showed the old picture, but distorted to the new picture's resolution. But, I see that it's fixed, so it doesn't really matter... Happy holidays! ClassicalComposers 02:48, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

- By the way, I'm not particularly interested in the rest of the Liszt, so that would be the highest priority right now (I was actually going to do those Berlioz **sulk** ;)-- Snailey Talk to Me Email me 21:16, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry for spoiling your fun. ;-) I'm fine with doing the Liszt; I was just going to to through alphabetically but it doesn't really matter. KGill talk email 21:19, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
That could work. The next batch is going to be Richard Strauß, so...alphabetically...:)-- Snailey Talk to Me Email me 21:22, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- I got one of the hungarian rhapsodies done before I left. I'll be back on the 27th to work on liszt again. So if you don't get to it don't worry about it :). Thanks for working on it. (It seems that not many orchestral people are big liszt fans.) Horndude77 23:33, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

Elgar Falstaff - Violin II
Hi KGill, I saw that you just uploaded the parts for Elgar's Falstaff the other day. Thanks for that. It looks great but there is no Violin II part (which was just the one I was looking for), although it looks like everything else is there. Do you have that one too? Thanks very much -- RChatley
- The second violin part was bad. See User talk:Carolus#Parts for more information. Horndude77 19:56, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Villa-Lobos: Works published through 1922.
Hi KGill, I wanted to ask for your help in compiling a list of works published up through 1922 as I'll try to focus some of my efforts on locating these for contribution. If determining this isn't possible, then the alternative would be assembling a list of all pieces written through 1922. Do you think you could help with this? Thanks in advance. Daphnis 22:14, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I do not have any dates (or even plate numbers)- Appleby doesn't include them. A list of works written before 1923 is already online (W1-189 in the sortable list), but a fair amount of those were not published. If you want, I could give you a list of those that were published, although I have no idea when they were. KGill talk email 02:14, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- Hi again. Sure, that would be most helpful in tracking these pieces down. I have a feeling most are going to be published after 1922, but let's see what we have to work with that won't be blocked when uploaded. Daphnis 02:31, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Tags
Hi KGill. It looks like the "|Tags=" line has to be the last line in the "Work Information" section (immediately below "|Average Duration=", but above "**Comments**"), otherwise it isn't always recognised — P.davydov 21:37, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Regarding Canzonie, Fantasie et Correnti (Selma y Salaverde, Bartolomé de), and similar cases, I think we'll have to settle for "vv bc" to apply to the whole work, as there's a finite limit of 10 tags per work. I've also added the tag "it" for Italian (see the language section of the guidance notes) — P.davydov 21:55, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
- Well, that would have saved me time...and are you sure that there should be a language put for that set? I couldn't find any words... KGill talk email 21:57, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Sorry about that. Italian seems a good guess for the language, even if the available files don't have the voice parts — P.davydov 22:50, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
- Just a quick correction before I leave. The "10" limit is for category intersections by the Category page and the CategoryWalker, and not a limit on the number of tags or categories per page. Not sure if you want to change anything because of this, but just a correction.
- Another little thing: it may save you time Davydov if you made the project members "librarians" via the User Rights special page (go to the special page list in the side bar), so they can edit MW:G directly (and you can fix any issues later on). Plus, this way the tags are resolved at tag time, so that we don't get a bunch of "Unknown tags" (even if it is fixable later on). However, I would recommend to use this for only seasoned contributors (the "librarian" privilege gives significant control, and to prevent vandalism it is a good idea to not give it to new IMSLP contributors). --Feldmahler 22:09, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Understood, thanks. That is my intention once the system is bedded in... — P.davydov 22:50, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Tagging
Hi KGill. Just a reminder only to put "trios, quartets, quintets", etc. when that's part of the title. Otherwise we'll have a problem when the categories are finalised. Thanks — P.davydov 22:01, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
- OK, except for some of the ones where the type of piece is not apparent (such as Black to Grey (Davidson, Robert)), should 'piece' be used? KGill talk email 22:04, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Although it's admittedly a pain sometimes, it's worth checking the scores to see whether there's a subtitle that will answer the question (e.g. one of the two you mentioned was described as a 'suite'). Failing that, 'piece' can be used, which gives us the option of returning to it after more research — P.davydov 08:01, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
Beethoven Choral Fantasy
Hi, KGill! Do you suppose I should move Fantasia for Piano, Chorus and Orchestra, Op.80 (Beethoven, Ludwig van) to Choral Fantasy, Op.80 (Beethoven, Ludwig van)? ClassicalComposers 02:59, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
- You could. It seems that 'Choral Fantasy' is a more common title than the current one we have, which would be the concern. KGill talk email 03:05, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
- Done. :) ClassicalComposers 03:06, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
Sound Files
Dear KGill, in which format should I, if I could, upload sound files? Thanks, ClassicalComposers 03:59, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- It's not currently allowed to upload sound files to the wiki. However, you can upload them to an external site, and link to them from here (see pages of Category:Isida, Kazue Rockzaemon for examples, although you can also list them under NCRecordings). He uses MIDI files, but I'd probably recommend mp3 (or maybe ogg). KGill talk email 15:36, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Thielo concerto
Hi, may I ask as to why you reverted my edit? ClassicalComposers 00:48, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- I didn't actually revert any edits, I deleted the page (and the other one in Thielo's category, and the category itself). That's because MusicaStorica(.com) published the editions we had of those pieces, and they have specifically requested that all of their files be removed. So I delete any when I find them. KGill talk email 00:50, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
Your own works
Hi, In light of our recent issue with items being sold on Ebay, which is now resolved (see the forums), you might want to think about which flavor of CC license you employ for items hosted here. Cheers, Carolus 03:06, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
- I'm thinking of just cc-by-nc, and will get around to putting logos on my files this afternoon (i.e. now). (That license applies to all derivative works as well, right?) KGill talk email 21:02, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Removed Score
Hi KGill, Yes I wanted to remove my contribution from "Brahms, Piano Quartet No.1, Op.25" Because I wanted to replace it by a new corrected one with the full covers.

Mendelssohn Complete Works
Hi KGill
Now that this page is complete, I think we can change the manup header. I agree it is still "manually updated", but it does now contain the whole collection...
I made a mistake while updating the page: I tried to change the title not to see it anymore in the summary. I think that's why you discarded it. If you have another way to do that, you're welcome!
CBo 20:04, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- My apologies, I didn't notice it was complete. I tried to make the title a little more prominent - is that more what you had in mind? KGill talk email 20:15, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Perfect, thanks!
- I'm ready to do the same work (completing the 'Complete Works Edition') for Beethoven. Is there anybody already working on that specific project, or may I start to do so? CBo 20:18, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Doesn't look like it to me. Piupianissimo was adding things about a month ago, but there doesn't seem to be any regular activity. It would be great of you to work on it! KGill talk email 20:24, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Of course, the description of a “complete works edition” is particularly erroneous in the case of Mendelssohn, since the B&H edition omitted so many of the early works, which while admittedly containing undoubted juvenilia, has meant that some significant pieces are still unpublished nearly 200 years later... but the Rietz edition is still nice to have in toto. Regards, Philip Legge @ © talk 20:59, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
You're going to love my featured scores entry which I put down for that a week ago (should pop up this month or a little later)..."incomplete works edition." Of course, the Haydn is worse...:)-- Snailey Talk to Me Email me 13:40, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
RV 93
I saw you changed the instrumentation from Lute, 2 Violins, Basso continuo to Lute, Violin, Viola (d'amore), Basso continuo. I sthere any particular reason for this? RV clearly states that it is for 2 Violins, the version we have here at IMSLP is an arrangement including ordinary viola. But where does the viola d'amore come into play? --BoccaccioTalk Email 19:08, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- There appears to be a discrepancy between sources in terms of the original instrumentation. Ssellis told me that the original was for lute, violin, viola (probably d'amore), and continuo, which according to you is wrong. Part of the reason I trusted what he said is because he arranged a part for 2nd violins from what he says is the viola part from the original. I'm guessing that you're using Grove? (I don't have access to it, so I can't tell for myself.) I guess the solution would be to list his 2nd violin part as an alternate for his arrangement for guitar, violin, viola, and continuo, and to change back the instrumentation. Sorry for messing this up... KGill talk email 16:52, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
My source basically were [[1]], [[2]] and a small German book on Vivaldi I own which contains a RV at its end. They all state 2 Violins, so I think we should trust in them (though we had some confusion about the 'Trombon da caccia' vs. 'Corno da caccia' which appear in RV 574 here). Do you know what Ssellis source is? Does he have access to some original manuscript? Maybe the Viola d'amor came into play because someone mixed up this conerto with the one RV 540 which is for Lute, Viola d'amore and strings... --BoccaccioTalk Email 13:26, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- He just said 'according to my resources', and hinted that he may have some kind of manuscript with phrases such as 'the original viola (or, more likely a Viola D'Amore) part' and by mentioning characteristics of the original score (i.e. the fact that it was in lute tablature). I don't know, it was mainly conjecture. I'll ask him. KGill talk email 22:01, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- Not having received a response, I think we can just keep it the way it is now (i.e. in accordance with your sources). KGill talk email 02:38, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
I just came to tag this new page, and it looks like the 3 files there are all for different works for piano and orchestra (only the 1st matching the title). I might have misunderstood, but could you take a look and see what you think? Thanks — P.davydov 18:08, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
And something similar's been happening here: Concerto pour Violoncelle et Orchestre de chambre à cordes, Op.233 (Mourey, Colette) !! — P.davydov 18:10, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
- For the Ballet: it seems that you're correct - the other two files are for different pieces. It says at the bottom of the page that it's 'one of three ritual dances', so it seems that the person who uploaded just messed it up and put all three on one page. The composer notified me by email that she wouldn't upload the files herself, but let one of her kids do it, which may be able to explain it. I don't have time to do anything about it now (or look at the concerto), sorry. KGill talk email 20:38, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Crosby Adams
Hi, I think this is actually by Juliette Graves Adams (aka Mrs. Crosby Adams). Mr. Crosby Adams was a choral conductor, according to the Montreat College website, while Juliette was the composer. Carolus 01:33, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, you're right - I probably got it mixed up because they have almost the same dates. However, LoC still gives 'Mrs. Crosby Adams' as the correct name. KGill talk email 01:36, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
