Hello Mark. Thank you for your upload of the Berkovitch piece, but we need more information to make sure that it isn't still in copyright — specifically, when Berkovitch (Berkovich?) died, and when the Prelude was composed and first published. If you can point us to any biographical sources for the composer, that could also be helpful. Otherwise we'll have to err on the side of caution and delete the file in a few days, and it will remain blocked in the meantime. Thanks — P.davydov 04:47, 26 March 2009 (EDT)

Hi
I am struggling to find anything about this guy. I was given the music (photocopy)6 months ago, the copy was a copy of a copy etc and very faint. no publishing details, and in Russian! I will try again, but I have search the intarweb to no avail.
This is why, having recreated the music, I have submitted it!
I will continue to search and hopefully will find more out soon.
Mark
Carolus: As soon as I find it (I think it is buried under piles of other papers, accounts and music...!), I will gladly submit it to your eagle eyes. I am very curious about this whole thing! Mark
carolus: i have now found my original photocopied source, and scanned it - how/where do i send it?
Hi, I've now looked this over. It appears to be a Soviet-era engraving, not something which was originally produced by one of the older Russian publishers. It looks closest in style to the output of Sovietski Kompozitor, which really only started producing things on a large scale in the late 1950s. I think there is a high likelihood that Berkovich is actually under copyright and recommend that you refrain from posting here until we have confirmation the composer died more than 50 years ago. Ah... ok :( Thats not such good news. Well thanks for helping me there. I would still like to know more about this guy tho... but I guess thats a separate subject.
OK, well I spoke to my Russian friend (the original present donor) last night and she will be seeing her music teacher soon (at the Moscow Conservatory) and will find out more then...
In the meantime, Ill stick to well dead people!
Thanks again for your interest...
FYI: I created the composer page https://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Berkovich,_Isaak , the date as taken from wikipedia and multiple sources is 1972 https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaak_Berkowitsch and https://musopus.net/musicians/berkovich-isaak-yakovich/
