I seem to have messed up badly in renaming the category Category:Köhler, Ernest Category:Köhler, Ernst. I deleted the earlier one in hopes of reducing the damage but to no avail- it still shows up as a 'subcategory' of the newer one. Practice, practice. Eric 12:12, 21 October 2010 (UTC) edit: hrm. cache problem maybe. fixed now.
Hi Eric, I've downloaded that file and added a note to your comment. Perhaps I'll start to split the file etc. next days. But my main project is to scan the stuff in my stocks - for the next years :-( Best wishes! --Ralph Theo Misch 16:29, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Merci beaucoup! --Ralph Theo Misch 12:15, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Dear Eric, it's quite easy. When you've chosen a picture for thumbnail, you name it TN-... Then you upload it (UPLOAD FILE on the left of the page). Then copy the words after FILE:, click EDIT at the work page, add |Thumb Filename= (below |Copyright or so) and paste the clipboard. That's all. --Ralph Theo Misch 00:37, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
P.S.: Piel: Interesting also the wrong plural of the original title ;-)
Just wanted to note that lower down on my user page I've been collecting some rather specific tips (some for Mac users, some for Sibley and BSB using people, that sort of thing) that hopefully some editors may find handy and that I'm just not absolutely positive where to put elsewhere. If there is an appropriate place to move/copy any of them, do, of course. - Eric
Yes, that would be a full-time job. --Ralph Theo Misch 00:42, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
Hi Eric, that's what comes of it! ;-) --Ralph Theo Misch 23:14, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
Hi, This template has the ability for you to plug in the exact URL for the item if you have it. Just thought you might like to know (in case you were unaware). Cheers, Carolus 03:44, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Salut Eric, May you take a look at that page, I haven't the good way to add a second publisher that I see on first page on Brandus edition : Vienna: Em. Wetzler - I'll look how you do - Merci Squin 05:14, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Salut Eric.. refering to your rectification, I'm sure that the date of his scores, due to the legal stamp that appears in 1903 on the first page : Dépôt légal Seine n°3666 1903 - Seine was the name of the Paris's administrative departement before 1968. Squin 15:18, 3 November 2010 (UTC) Oh I see now what you mean... the stamp BNF ... but it's not c.a for circa but C.1903 for copyright 1903 Squin 15:39, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Dear Eric, pianoforte, fortepiano, harpsichord or keyboard - everything is correct. Yes, the pianoforte was in great demand. But also the harpsichord was still common and not everybody owned a pianoforte that time. Even an early edition of Beethoven's early piano sonatas wrote 'per il pianoforte o il gravicembalo' (an editorial trick, of course, as they are composed for the pianoforte). Moreover Leopold's sonatas have their roots at Scarlatti. However I assume that he would have been (??) preferred a pianoforte. Nor, the preface of this Denkmäler edition is not helpful in this regard. --Ralph Theo Misch 23:46, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Re: Yes, the taggs, of course. I would tagg (tag) them for piano (also keyboard) (see Bach: Clavier-Übung). The preface is from 1908/1910. It's interesting - but only for those who understand German :( Good night! --Ralph Theo Misch 00:40, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
I uploaded F 30 March for Harpischord to IMSLP but in the work list F 30 is missing. How can I add it now??? March for Harpsichord in E-flat major (Bach, Wilhelm Friedemann) should be March for Harpsichord in E-flat major, F.30 (Bach, Wilhelm Friedemann) (also: see discussion if F 30 oder nv30 at work page) TobisNotenarchiv 19:36, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
My question was, how to change the work title of a existing workpage without creating a new page? If I edit a work page as March for Harpsichord in E-flat major, F.30 (Bach, Wilhelm Friedemann) the title cannot be changed. TobisNotenarchiv 21:42, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
Hello Eric. It did seem to be an obvious omission, and that should have been your clue that there was a good reason for it :-) According to standard library practice, continuo is considered a sub-section of an orchestra and so shouldn't be listed separately when a full orchestra is present. I didn't discover this until halfway through the tagging project, when it was more straightforward to change the mapping of tags with "orch bc" than to go through and amend each of the affected tags one by one — P.davydov 11:43, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
My apologies, for whatever reason, I forgot to take the composer's death year into account before uploading. Mikemoral 20:35, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
Just to be clear about the page title guidelines, Grey's Chant triomphal counts as a distinctive (rather than generic) title, so it would only need the key for disambiguation purposes if he wrote more than one Chant triomphal. I've no idea whether he did or not :-) — P.davydov 18:34, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
The Pastorale that you've just uploaded is fine with the key, BTW, because "Pastorale" is a generic title that needs qualification. This generic/distinctive issue can be tricky, but it's the basis for standard library cataloguing — P.davydov 18:36, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
Hi Eric, thanks for your comment. As I tried to translate the title, we should take also the English version. Best wishes! --Ralph Theo Misch 00:16, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
'Maniaques' like us are often hasty ;-) I'm looking forward to your further research! --Ralph Theo Misch 00:31, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
Yes, according to the poem it may be an elegy on the death of his son. BTW: I followed your aktivities here round the clock - you are really a maniaque :-)) --Ralph Theo Misch 00:45, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
Hi Eric... You're a librarian ... A good one ? ... A very good one ? So, I hope that you'll tag my next upload, a score uploaded espescially for a good librarian as you. The composer (Mr Costé) is visonary (at least 100 years ahead of all others). You'll see the instrumentation on the first page : piano et cris d'animaux... I'll look your work with special interest ! Squin 16:33, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
Eric, dear Eric, It was just a sort of joke to trouble you and if possible make you laugh .... The score isn't a masterpiece of "raffinement" et de "bon goût" (refinement is the good word ?). For concrete music, we have to wait 1950 and Pierre Henry : Here the shouts are made by the singers ouaf/woof hi-han/hee-haw cocorico!! ...Sorry Squin 08:59, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip! --Ralph Theo Misch 00:18, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for the Hofmeister reference. I have added it to the list of sources on the worklist page, and have changed the date for Symphony No.4 to 1889. I will also add Hofmeister to my personal "repertoire" of sources to check (along with Pazdirek, Grove, etc.). Great resource! Cheers... ..Pazdirek also has its issues. It's very comprehensive (through 1910 or so), though there are no dates in the citations! But it's used by librarians to determine original titles of works, so it's highly regarded in our circle. I'm curious to find out of some of my colleagues use Hofmeister as well...
Hi Eric, I don't know exactly. I think it bases only on the tale by the Gebrüder Grimm (the Grimm brothers), as written on page 2. BTW Larry Todd arrived - in German, of course. Cheers --Ralph Theo Misch 00:27, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
