Note on the second movement: L'istesso tempo means, as here, that the beat remains constant though the meter has changed. "All that has changed is the subdivision of the beat" - from Music.vt.edu. (So not the same as Tempo I, and so the return to Sehr langsam (Tempo I) with the return of the opening 3/4 meter is not redundant.)

The sonata begins in A minor and concludes in F♯ minor (or does it? The bass chord of the finale in the last bar is an A major chord - unless there is a treble clef missing two bars before the end, and an ottava-treble missing in the right hand so that the hands don't clash if that is so. If not, then it's bitonal - Non troppo capriccioso indeed, for such a basically Romantic composer?) - Schissel
