At least begun by 1906 (Le Courrier musical, 9e Année, Nº16/17, 15 Août/1 Septembre 1906 issue, p.540: "le compositeur des Pêcheurs de Saint-Jean travaille également à une Sonate pour piano et violon.") Janet Packer's notes/promotional material for her Centaur Records recording state in addition "1907, rev. 1937".

Performed and perhaps premiered in the same concert as saw the premiere as the premiere of the Cello sonata, Op.80 (on March 14, 1907, in the salon of Madame Max.)
