  • Rudolf Bial was a relative of one of the partners in "Koster & Bial's Concert Hall" in New York City. He conducted the orchestra there, and many of his compositions and arrangements were published in two series: "An Evening with Rudolph Bial's Orchestra" and "Rudolf Bial's Compositions". The Yarra Songs Waltzes is part of the "An Evening with Rudolph Bial's Orchestra at Koster & Bial's Concert Hall" series.
  • The orchestral parts were found at LoC, though possibly they are not complete.
  • The piano version was released first, with the orchestral parts released in 1880 (plate 538). However, the work was described as "arranged for the pianoforte" (among other works) in an advertisement on several other Bial work covers. Therefore it is assumed the original conception was orchestral, and tagged as such.
  • The Yarra is a river in Australia, through Melbourne, I gather.-Schissel
