VIAF gives his death year as 1907, and this year is also in the Macmillan Encyclopedia of Music and Musicians (1938): "German bandmaster and composer, born at Bingen in 1826; died Chatham, England, 1907. He was Bandmaster of the Royal Marines (Chatham) and his works include an opera and a cantata."
