Miscellaneous information
Music critic Templeton Strong (not the composer) mentions Phillips in a letter in 1840: "went to the French church to hear Austin Phillips try their organ, but he wasn't there". Lawrence provides some information about him in her annotations: Phillips wasn't there because he had recently- November 2 - emigrated to the United States where he would later become the organist at St Thomas Church. Lawrence gives "d.1851"; other sources, "d.1849" including Musicsack.
