Though this is textless, the Psalm itself would have been sufficiently well-known that the words may not have been necessary. However, different versions of the Bible have different wordings, which can throw out the stress points of the different words, so this would have been done with a specific version in mind, and that is not at present known.
The melody (in the tenor) has also been used for "Praise God from whom all blessings flow", i.e. the Doxology.
